I remember they talked about this in the beginning where the jeweled eye were a curse and a blessing so ppl wanted to have them for themselves eventually leading to the stereotype that any jeweled eye children will meet their end and not make it into adulthood. If I remember correctly, there was a war over them for who ever killed them could have their eyes and gain some kind of ability, this was in the form of a story/backstory
Wait, he was able to remove the jeweled eyes, does that mean he's using a real jeweled eyes as a contact lense? I wonder what happened to his real eyes. But how did he even get them at the first place?
