i did it the other way around (read silver diamond first). i personally liked silver diamond better, though it has only few shounen ai moments (practically none, actually). most of it has to do with me liking the characters in silver diamond more.
but i agree with you that the characters have 'representations' in Koori and silver diamond.
also, i cannot believe how much sugiura-sensei likes snakes. XD
Same with me I read silver diamond first. Though it doesn't have as much shounen ai moments as most fan girls would want (though I would prefer Yaoi..) it does have lots of lines stating to the fact. I mean near the end they are telling each other they love each other the most over everyone else AND the whole concept of them meeting by fate is very silently a stab at saying the two are soul mates, so technically I was happy with their relationship overall despite the lack of moments. Though I would be pretty happy if someone made a Yaoi Doujinshi!

I actually don't remember snakes being in Koori to be honest. Also Yes I loved Kou, He was so cute, frankly I loved all the snakes in silver diamond and I was crying almost every chapter when the large snakes that became rivers died. I also yes did love Naru (after Rakan and Chigusa) he was just so cute in his own way. Also it was always so funny that he kept getting called big sis or mother in law. (⌒▽⌒)
i salute sugiura-sensei for giving us a wonderful manga to read..
but since i first fell in love with koori first,,i really cannot shake off the feeling that the characters really do look alot like each other so so much..(but since it was drawn by the same person, i think we cannot really help it) but the similarities..it's bothering me..or distracting me rather.. (creepy) when i look at chigusa, i saw ishuca-san,,when i look at narushige, i saw rapunzel-san..when i look at kinrei, i saw leo-kun..and the bandits looks more like the group of north demons..see the similarities distracts me while i read..
oh,oh..here i go blabbering again XD (●'◡'●)ノ
