No, its main plot is nothing about romance. The main character does have a love interest though that he will end up with.
Also, my advice is to read the manga instead of the anime. The anime doesn't really follow the manga that well. The order for the manga series is Tokyo Ghoul and then read the Tokyo Ghoul: Re manga. There are also side mangas that delve into certain characters' backstories, so I suggest researching that to see when to read it.
Is there romance? I haven't watched the anime yet because I didn't want to ruin the experience of reading the manga lol I know nothing about this yet
