Just why

I get so tired reading comments on yaoi manga or webtoon these days, especially on this website, because there’s always people arguing this and that for honestly stupid reasons. All I wanted was a place to share how I enjoyed a story but everything is just full of hate in the comments and I don’t get it.

We’re all here to read a fictional story so what’s the point of getting so worked up and hating other folks for liking or not liking what has been written? Seriously, it’s all fiction and authors write stuff on purpose to portray characters a certain way so there’s literally no point in arguing over eachother saying this is toxic y’all disgusting or no he’s not I love him. Liking a toxic character doesn’t mean one is toxic and disgusting. Defending a toxic character’s behavior doesn’t mean that person is stupid. People have things called emotions and opinions that are all equally valid ESPECIALLY because this is a fictional story. Nothing is ever purely black and white, there’s always benefits and negatives to every relationship and every person views things differently. What is toxic to one person isn’t toxic to another and that’s just a fact people need to accept. There’s a reason why we don’t meddle in other people’s relationships in real life but because this is a fictional story (or relationship) everyone has access to, shit suddenly goes down to hell with people forcing their views on others.

Really, just accept that it’s a story and enjoy what you enjoy and leave others alone to see it as whatever they want. I buy all the chapters and read webtoons on Lezhin so I came here for a place to share my love for a few stories that I enjoyed there but it only dampened my reading experience so I probably won’t read comments here anymore...

Yeaaah, the comment section in psychological and slice-of-life stories are always full of toxicity even though it's the slice-of-life genre, what'd they expect? orz

And your comment on authors purposefully writing stories to show readers a glimpse of what things could be, is spot-ON. Even some classic literature stories that are deemed legendary and are taught by scholars and professors around the world have similar themes like this story. Why? Just because it fucks with people's minds to like a certain a story despite it being so fucked up. (cough cough *Lolita* and *Wuthering Heights* COUGH)

Your comment is exactly how I feel.

I refer to them as the “Crusaders of Fictional Justice”.

The nickname I have given them IS ridiculous because fighting for the rights of illustrations IS very ridiculous.

OHtheNovelty hit the nail on the head too. When you have read and studied classic literature for fun or academically, you understand what the purpose of writing is. I have always wondered if the majority here are just not educated, well read, mature, or aware.

When one reads for enjoyment or to relax, a good book’s job is to take you to a different place mentally and capture you completely. This is why I have always loved to read. This is also why I am here. I am a grownup with so many responsibilities. I come here to mentally recharge, enjoy myself, and let go of reality.

I find it comforting to see others, like me, who understand what the very definition of fiction is and how enjoyable immersing yourself in a great fictional read can be.

The comment section has so many really good people who make cute, funny or endearingly honest comments. There are so many who have something positive to share. I really enjoy those comments. They make my day brighter.

Unfortunately, you do have to wade through an impossible amount of immaturity and ignorance (the definition of ignorance is lack of knowledge or information - for all you kiddos who may not understand the real definition of the word ignorance) to find others who understand these simple things.

Fiction is just fiction. It’s not an excuse, it is literally a genre of literature.

Most of the time I don’t even bother to keep scrolling and looking for normal, mature, educated, open minded, positive, or happy individuals since the number of the “Crusaders for Fictional Justice” far outnumber all the people who are just here to unwind and relax.

Anyways, A BIG THANK YOU to all of the people who just come to hang out, laugh and keep the mood light and relaxing. You make it so much fun to be here. I really do appreciate you!
