SO WELL SAID. sometimes I have to stop and think a little more critically, I like with 100% perfect or sum, they apologized and then took time to heal and it’s just not happening here. Also, it defiantly has an affect on your brain so we should be more careful in what we as readers consume like and support. All in all tho this take was super good
ME!! I feel so bad about it to, but when they down play it a ton I also feel shorty for trying to convince myself that it’s fine. Or when they’re like ‘your saying no but your body blah blah blah’ is also so weird looking at it in a critical way. I wish that this story didn’t trely so heavily on raping Rix all the time cuz the style and main plot is so nice. But I need to personally work on trying to be more specific with what I read and enjoy.
I totally agree, while we may voice that we dislike the rape and it makes us sad doesn't necessarily mean we don't want to continue with the book. I'm in love with this story however when it get to the point where you're sending threats to the author and shaming the creative process is another Matter entirely. Rape isn't okay. Sex without consent isn't okay, however this is up to the author. Now we can either keep reading, we can complain or we could drop the book entirely but really I hope we can have a little optimism and see a silver lining where the author finally let's Rix take control of his situation and we can see a happy ending for nuah and rice because jeez Rix is a beautiful man and it hurts seeing how he's taken advantage of but I really want to believe it'll get better. I love him and nuah soooo much.
Exactly, nothing is wrong is you disagree with how things are going there are aspects you like and aspects you may hate but I draw the line at endangering a real person's life or just being really awful directly to the author. They have feelings too so i'm praying things get better for the book. This book literally can be solely on breaking Rix, that would break my heart. We have to keep our fingers cross for our boys. Rix and Nuah we're rooting for your happiness!
I think, don't quote me on this, but I think a lot of people are desensitized and used to seeing rape in BL stories. So when they see someone complain about it, they automatically tell you to drop the story. They see you as someone who is complaining about the author work. So if you have a problem with it you can leave. It is unfavorable and harsh. But yeah people are desensitized by rape in fictional stories.
Harsh truth but it needs to be said. The reason why some of y'all get so livid when people comment negatively about the rape/sexual assault in a manga is because while you may not think that rape in real life is ok, you have become extremely desensitized to it, especially if you read a lot of yaoi which most people on this site do. I've said numerous times that I read manga with rape all the time & I don't have a problem once it's seen as the horrible act it is. The truth is in way too many yaoi mangas (or ecchi/hentai mangas in general) there's a lack of consent & the offending person usually faces little to no consequences for their actions, in fact it often happens that they are rewarded with the person they raped returning their feelings despite the fact that that's a sick & twisted "love." Whether you want to admit it or not, the media you consume has a huge impact on your psyche. This has been proven time & time again. Proof of your desensitization is the fact that you're telling people (especially in regards to this particular story) to leave & stop reading it if they don't like it, instead of addressing the legitimate concerns they have.
With Rix Vanus, as we've been saying over & over, *everyone* reading this story knew there'd be rape. It was in the first fucking chapter! We're not simply addressing rape here, we're talking about the fact that it has become normalized in this story. Someone attempts to/actually rapes/sexually assaults Rix, Rix gets away somehow, Rix completely forgets/doesn't care about what just happened to him, the person faces no consequences for what they just did/attempted to do, it's swept under the rug & forgotten about like it never happened, lather, rinse, repeat. If you're telling people to shut up about this it's because you think rape is ok just because it's fiction & that is concerning. Because you've seen rape be treated as if it's not a big deal, you're starting to think that as long as it's not real it's ok.
Stop telling us to just drop the manga. Because I can tell you if you hate seeing people talking about the rape to stop going to the topics. We've been reading this story for months & have fallen in love with the characters & initial storyline. Some people need to vent their frustrations about a manga they thought looked promising & became invested in. It's illogical to think that people will just drop a story they've been invested in for months without saying a word.
