Yeah, it is a defense skill of sorts. Also, the text wasn't any spoiler, he was just reading everything that Dokja experienced so far as a wall of text that overwhelmed him. The theater master's skill did work sucessfully at first before suddenly the forthwall activated and cancelled out his skill causing both him and Dokja to be confused
