If you love someone you don't keep him or her in web made of lies. Honesty & trust only on those two things you can build any relationship without it is something fake
& like to be abused. No normal person will stay in this situation. He can blame himself for hardship he has experienced. If you're passive this is what you get. His stupid choices and lack of any willingness to fight or straight story will harm not only him but people around. According Darwin theory he should be dead meat already.
