It’s why I don’t blame him for not telling Lucia everything. There’s still some portions to his family background that I’ve noticed people haven’t shared in their spoiler comments yet (or I just haven’t seen them), but ultimately, I think his unwillingness to tell her everything is understandable. He’s deeply ashamed of his origins and the dark secrets that his family history holds. All he wants is to be the only one with the burden of that knowledge and to make sure no one else is harmed by it.

Never said it wouldn’t be. His choice to not share it definitely complicates matters for the two of them, but from an emotional/mental standpoint it’s understandable why he doesn’t want to.
