Is it me or its difficult to understand

I don't really understand either but I think she meant that the red haired guy use her(?) or see her as a replacement for the lady.. How should I describe it.. You know, each and every person is themselves but the red haired guy see 'Ash' as the lady or smtg like that I think.. Maybe that's why she says he is cruel..
