While I completely agree that’s it’s upsetting when authors do that, I think the reason no one is bothered is because it’s not seen as uncommon in some places in Asia. If 2 boys like the same girl, neither gets upset. At that point, there’s almost like a mutual understanding that they ‘compete’ per se and the girl gets to make the ultimate decision
Am I the only one who hates it when authors make the best friend as a love rival. Is your friendship worth so little that you throw it away for some girl you barely know . I would be so heartbroken if my bestfriend completely disregarded our years of friendship and tried to make moves on my partner. On top of that , the characters wont even have any mental struggles. Like his bestfriend didnt even feel guilty for liking FL nor did the ML feel any betrayal, they just directly became antagonistic towards eachother. At least the authors should put some effort to give the characters some depth.
