Yeah, I guess that it was meant to just be a manifestation of her worries that she narrated on the way home.
I feel a little cheated her imagination was used as a cliffhanger, but I do like that they are showing Dani's anxiety by showing her thinking worst-case scenarios
I thought the purple haired girl actually said that...but she didn't.
