She needs to TALK with him so that everyone can be clear on what they want/need

try talk with that condition then. you said it as if she doesn't want to talk.

I think their communication is great and better then many pairs I read so far. they both talk about things, slowly when each of them feel comfortable. and yeas it fine to take your time to get used to your partner! it will take time and it's okay, we don't need to hurry anywhere. they didn't seen each other for 3 years, give them a break.
