I think the translation is kind of confusing which might have thrown some people off, but it’s definitely one of the most unique mangas I’ve read. And the art is stunning

This is clearly one of the few stories where the ratings are just incorrect in judging the series. Also this isn't yaoi, it's BL so the tags need to be fixed.
Some of these low ratings are from people who just didn't understand the story and either couldn't follow the clues properly or had a lack of understanding of the subtleties in storytelling. I just find it quite sad that looking at some of the older ratings, it's just people trying to sum the story up while completely missing the entire plot lmao. Not going to name drop, but there's literally a 1 star rating stating that they thought the MC was being a prostitute...which I don't understand. How do you just skip over the experiments and the surgery parts of the story. I'll give them the benefit of doubt and say maybe this person didn't read the last chapter which in that case is just simply meaningless.
Personally, I came into this with low expectations because of the rating, pleasant surprise to find out it's actually a good short story and probably one of the better, if not best, BL plotlines that I read for a while. This deserves to be at least 9.0/10.
