i usually drop mangas when i read them before sleeping, i simply cant bring myself to pick it back up tommorow if it was bad, i just pick the next one thinking "i'll finish it later" I never do

Hmm....I don't think I am a picky reader. At least not now. There was a time when I used to be. But, with time I understood, that if I want to expand my reading experience, I need to learn & read more. I believe that if you haven't read something bad or worse you won't understand the true value of a good thing or exactly how good it is.
For me, plot/story & the way it is carried out/expressed is EVERYTHING. That's all I ever care about & that's what I am picky about. I don't usually like - extremes of sex mangas like - rape, hardcore sex, 3P, BDSM, too much blood & gore, Bara, two timing, too much angst. BUT, if the story is good I am willing to overlook those dislikes. For example, I just mentioned that I don't usually like Bara. But, a really nice mangago user once recommended me a Full colored Bara Dj of Batman x Superman, which was extremely sweet & sexy. Well, It's not like I suddenly started to like Bara, but now, at least I don't cringe on finding out that the manga I am interested in is a Bara. Just like that, if a rape manga shows that the rapist is punished OR he shows regret,remorse & redemption OR if the rape victim is not forced into a relationship with his rapist, I might come to like it.
Art is also a big plus point for me. I am weak to beautiful detailed art. Even if a manga has a typical/common story, with breath taking gorgeous art, I might be willing to overlook a few stereotypes :P
What I absolutely dislike/never pick up/re-read in a million years is a manga
full of just sex to satisfy the readers for the sake of fan service with absolutely zero to non-existent story. I try to forget mangas like this right after reading them.

I read everything too,i just drop it if it gets too bad, that's why i'm so picky now. When the characters are done bad, it feels like they live just for sex,.
Problem is most yaoi forces sex too soon or too much just to satisfy the readers. I don't know which i like less, the no plot - sex, or extremely lame not believable plot - sex

that didn't happen to me yet, but what did happen, is reading a manga i dropped and not even realizing it, then i do realize it when it get's really bad and drop it again. Talk about wasting time #－.－)

Lately i've noticed that i am an extremely picky reader. That is, for me to enjoy a manga or book, it absolutely MUST have well developed characters.
It's becoming more pronounced as i get older, if the chars aren't well done and don't have psychological deepness, i end up subconsciously dropping mangas and stories and never going back to them┑(￣Д ￣)┍
And if i do finish them i pretty much forget what it was about in a week.
On the other hand the stories that managed to pass that high criteria, i remember and love no matter how much time passes. I end up immersing myself in the story completely, and more often then not, end up falling in love with the characters (both male and female). They become so incredibly dear to me
As you can prb guess it's quite a big problem for a yaoi fan, testament to that is the fact that there is not a SINGLE yaoi manga that managed to pass that high criteria (a few shouunen ai's did tho (edit: just for references sake, the only shounen ai that managed to do that completely is No. 6, i love those two so very very much ╥﹏╥ ))

Well there's not much helping it and i'm trying to stop doing that and to at least tag the mangas i stop reading as discontinued so i know what i've read
