DON'T COMPARE HIM TO CLAUDE.
claude used black magic to wipe his memories & to remove his emotions and he's still 1000% better than this bitch boy.
also idk what you meant by "bubbly and sweet child" but keira in chapter 1-2 was super cute and followed him around everywhere. why didn't he love her then?
Oh, yeah for sure i get this thought a lot but its so easy to differentiate him from Claude.
Atty's story starts from childhood, and we as readers were given the opportunity to know and see that he's this cold bitch. And we were given time to warm up to them, going along their journey into becoming an unconventional yet warm father-daughter duo. Yes, he too was cold and emotionally unavailable, but we already knew that. Atty came to him and changed things initially for her survival but ended up loving him as did he to her. We see his back story clearly, not just 'uwu i must be cold ahuhuhu' but also multi-faceted things about his character whereas in this story, the dad is this one-dimensional villain, who, even in this timeline may still end up being such a loser. They're both emotionally abusive parents, but the difference is, the other worked to connect with the other (while I do not support Claude's bad vaybzz) while the other remains stagnant and only uncovered his blindfold when his daughter, the one that shouldve remained by his side no matter what, became an irregularity.
While I would have wanted Atty to become independent like Keira here and to find people that actually love her without having to work to gain love (no child should have to do that; fictional or not), and we might have seen a 'tsun-tsun' (lightly calling his would-be bizarre actions had she not shone him love lol), however, their stories are a bit far than close and the way the authors executed this made it impossible. The art styles also played a BIG BIG role here, too. We've long since saw so much fan service of Clause that there's prolly a lot of them emotionally unavailable young single-working hot dad simps in this hellsite LMAO because if you're gonna be emotionally abusive, might as well experience it from a hot killer guy who's got them abs, the cute kid, the cute father-daughter duo (gone wrong) and a tear-jerker backstory you'd eat the fuck off even if it doesnt justify shit, amaright? ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Hence, a lot of people empathize with Claude more than this guy cuz who would you root more, the (not so) evil emotionally manipulative guy who's good looking but also has other facets to him OR the (stank) evil emotionally manipulative guy who's not really good looking AND doesnt really have other facets to him? ( ̄∇ ̄")
i dont think i even need to see spoilers to make conjecture that the dad prolly was the last piece to the puzzle who helped the magician change time cuz he prolly realized he fucked up and lost all his shit. he prolly thought that choosing to put the memories back into Keira that she would return to being his "good" daughter and will proceed as is but more aware to be careful of Cosette but he didnt think that her undying loyalty to him could be overturned. Tsk. Just thinking about it is angering me GRRRRRR What a cocky bastard (●'◡'●)=凸
And im supposed to root for this fucker just because he suddenly had a change of heart? Like, he wouldnt be showing such 'vulnerable tsundere' tendencies had she kept her behavior. He would continuously never love her no matter the stupid reasoning of not showing familial love for their children. That's big BULL energy right there and that's child abuse.
Its so pathetic to think that you end up noticing you have a multi-faceted daughter when she no longer loves you and hypothetically, its so ridiculous that he fell for Cosette because she was bubbly and warm, the exact opposite of HIS long time daughter and (similar to other stories) he prolly like Cosette more cuz he's tired of seeing such a cold child when that's the environment he's given her. Ok I digress now but grRRRRRR Im getting hypertension just dissecting his actions (⌒▽⌒) ╬
