I am really wondering

I am really wondering about these readers that supposed to "like","love", "find interesting" a fictional character and then wishing the worst for them. I mean here King Grey was a person that was all alone, training like a dog and constantly fighting, pushing himself for a hollow purpose, so much that he was empty and decided himself to give up on anything. After his rebirth he kept doing the same thing but now while making bonds, having an actual family, living his life and realizing what is most important and precious, so he can find true happiness. And then this reader comes "oh I would prefer for him to have no romance, just fighting and become better". Dude did you get anything you read? You love this character so you prefer him as a soulless unhappy tool that lays alone in an empty room, this is where your love for him goes? And you do not approve of him live his life and have flirts and later a relationship? Like any normal teen/human being? Check your thoughts carefully and see if you are actually an Art or a Lucas

Well duh but if he wants a romantic relationship and it’ll make him happy why prevent him from it/not want him to have one? Sounds like obsessive stans to me

Right? Like these sick people that do not want their K-pop idols to have someone special, only thinking of them. And also yes you can gain happiness from other things of course, but there isn't a single soul in the universe that if they had the chance to love and be loved by someone special and compatible they would say "nah". It is not by choice when we are alone, it is by not having found someone good and compatible (or we have but it is unrequited). Even playboys/playgirls seek physical contact, just without the feelings

some people are fine being alone i didn't know you've spoken to "every single soul in the universe". aromantic people exist? and yes people can CHOOSE to be alone. romantic relationships are not better than other relationships, and aren't the only source of companionship. that was my point.

if he wants one, then that's fine, but op made it sound like he *has* to be in one to be happy.

The author presents a hint of romantic relationships in the future. Comments here were like "iou if they show romance I will drop this"," I do not like him having relationships, I prefer just for him to fight and become stronger". And yes most people want relationships. I clearly stated that some want just physical. Most people want the whole deal. There are also asexual people that want romantic relationship but without the sexual aspect. But all these are relationships. Number of people not wanting either sex nor dating (without special circumstances like work or bad experience or psychic trauma) are immensely rare

they're saying that because romance is usually handled poorly in these types of stories (and judging by the spoilers this story is no different)

if you think the number of people not wanting sex or dating is immensely rare, then you clearly haven't heard about the current situation in south korea or japan.

i could talk about the different factors about why people seek validation from romantic relationships but i'll leave it at that.

That's funny cause I actually read about this issue quit recently and it wasn't by choice. It was a combination of many working hours and exhaustion, the beauty standards where you must have a lot of money (plastic surgery, cosmetics, style and brands) in order to be eligible. Especially males have a great issue (which is augmenting by trends like staying indoors and work from home, or isolating and play games)
