Yeah, but He joined a war, so he didn't have time. Also about the awakening, there was the talk about the need of self improvement first in order to hatch the egg (cause the egg represents its master and he was lacking at that point). But he still had some difficulties even after the awakening (if I remember corcetly - something about a flower).
