There's also the fact that maybe the author wants to keep the same characters, I'm speaking about the third years, so to my mind they will go to the national and win them for sure. However it might be possible that there's new characters that are better who will arrive, but I doubt it.

since this is a sports manga, i think if we follow the pattern of any sports manga/anime they always lose the first time, and win the second time and go to nationals. I'm almost 100% positive they will win. Unless the author wants to take this manga in a different direction, which i highly doubt because that would just be stalling to make money out of it because it's successful.
