Favorite Manga Readers?

narutolvr December 6, 2015 3:35 am

I know quite a few of us in the US/UK had issues with the site being down completely earlier (did any of y'all from anywhere else have that?). While waiting for the site to come back online, I decided to procrastinate on homework by checking out other manga readers and realized I don't know any that are as good as or comparable to mangago and work for me. So I want to know- what are your favorite manga readers? *Outside of the scanlators' readers, of course, which I prefer if I'm looking for something specific.

I'll list a few I tried and why/how they didn't work out in case you guys are interested.

1. Mangahere: quality wise, I'd say this is my favorite, even better than mangago. But I have severe lagging issues with it which is why I even started using mangago in the first place.

2. Mangareader: I don't like anything about it, tbh. It has a pretty limited collection, the search bar is really annoying to use.

3. Mangafox: Ties with mangago for user features and sense of community (the forum feature also makes for great discussion) but I find that most of the manga on there are unreadable, yet they keep posting updates.

4. Manga.animea.net: Pretty much the one I go to when mangago isn't at 100% since the pages are pretty much guaranteed to load and the collection of manga is decent. But...I'm not fond of anything else, really. The homepage design is plain (you have to open the manga page to see a summary for example), and too text heavy. Just the sort of place you go to when you know exactly what chapter of what manga you want to read, and don't wanna get bogged down by people's comments or anything. But not too good for discovering new manga or anything.

Sorry for the long post, but I was just surprised to see that I had so few viable options with these sites I've gotten to know over the last 7/8 years. Any readers you like to go to? (=・ω・=)

Sometimes I go to myreadingmanga.info because they've got a ton of yaoi mangas that aren't on mangago yet but mangago is still by far my favorite manga site (▰˘◡˘▰)

I'm a yaoi fan, so there is nothing much to draw me to other sites.

I know right! If you really need other sites try mangamap.com, manghere.co, mangareader.net,etc

I love mangahere because of the tsukkokomis but recently they became aggressive af #-.-) popups and adds make it nerve wracking to read and slow to load
Still when reading the most popular manga i still go to manga here, but i use mangago for 90% of the manga i read (⌒▽⌒)

I can understand- I didn't realize just how much yaoi there was until I came to this site. Interestingly enough, some of them (at least mangahere) has a comparable collection to mangago, but never really features them.

Yeah it got too slow for me too! And only a few months after they put in tsukkomis which was a bummer. And the comments just disappeared for me entirely. I do occasionally go there to read a particularly funny chapter/manga just to get a few good laughs. I never had an issue with popups, funny enough, maybe I left before it became an issue?

first click on anything on a newly loaded page- popup
every 10 or so pages of a manga - popup
plus the ads now are some high-res clip or smt, it crashes my poor-ass old manga reading PC like nothing else ( ̄∇ ̄")
the clip ads are new (a month or so) and they really DO cause my PC to crash, it's impossible to even open mangahere ( i have to use "the gaming" PC to read on mangahere :'D )

Finding websites to read manga is not a problem as we can just ask our uncle google.
The problem is members' homepages where they keep lists / tags / comments / albums.. etc. all info to keep track of their favorite manga.

I used to hop around a bit more, so I got used to using mangaupdates.com for tracking my manga so I can access the same info regardless of reading site. But I realized from yesterday that not all readers are the same- even disregarding user interface (lists, albums, all the features that are so awesome), mangago seems to have the best reader site. I don't have issues with lags, popups, it has a huge library despite being one of the newer ones, and the people on here are active enough in commenting that its really easy to find new manga to read. Guess I was just wondering if any other site was comparable but it seems like mangago is the cream of the crop ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
