yes that's exactly what i think happened:•) i think he was so afraid of being a bad impact on her life, he tried creating a distance, and then at some point i think he was afraid of actually losing her so he tried pulling her back, and then he got clarity and realized doing this was just preventing natsume from being what he knew she could be, so he made her promise not to meet again. but when he realized how much they loved each other, but at the same time wanted to have a healthy relationship with her, he said they could meet when they were at their respectable moments etc. et.c does this help ?
