Homophobia

Can we talk about the homophobic implication of the last arc’s punishment for the actor? “He acts undercover in gay porn. Embarrassing, right?” I find that weird. Did anyone else think the same?

It’s definitely not a kosher sentiment. Not sure if it’s more homophobic or sex-worker shaming or both. But considering it’s assumed to be said by a gossipy piece of trash extra that’s only represented by a speech bubble.....I don’t think us, the audience, should put much weight behind the words beyond “oh it’s trash people saying trash things about other trash people.”

Honestly you can't really escape the prejudices in the webcomics. Be it racism, misogyny or homophoby but in this case specifically I can understand it's use.

The guy is heterosexual. And let's be frank. It's not "embarrassing" for a het man to be a het p*ns actor. If anything they could feel even proud. The stigma of p*rn is always big. For the women. See Mia's case, she will never get rid od the p*rn star title, she is used in jokes and references till today even when she is not in that business anymore. Heck, I don't even need to write her full name for people to know who I'm talking about... but can you tell me 1 male p*rn star without having to look for it?
Again, the guy is het. And the fact she specified gay p*rn is to imply he is acting as a bottom. The embarrassing part is a promiscuous het man, who "bedded" many women having to be "bedded" by others for money now. Honestly big part of homophoby (by men) stems from misogyny, from they thinking it's humiliating for a man to be "taken" by another man like a woman. But punishment wise havig to have s*x regardless of your se*ual orientation is pretty humiliating. Be it a gay person having het s*x or a het person having gay s*x. Unfortunately the "impact" of the punishment would be way lesser without it.

I don't believe she (su luxia) intended to be homophobic, even more so considering the arc before that one. She did some I'm not gay jokes previously but never with negative connotations regarding gays, but ridiculing the other woman like: sorry dear you're not hot enough to bend me.

Well you also have to think of where the story takes place as well I don't think her character or the author is homophobic but it was just to earn a living he had to become a gay porn actor which is completely different from the way he was living before hand with a wife and kids, a good acting career, a nice house and now he has to work in underground gay porn videos I didn't like that that was the ending they gave him either but I also think it was because he was such a prideful and straight character and he had to lose everything to keep making money and now participating in gay porn videos and cheating on his wife is what he'll be known for
