This could be a language difference? Like when I call my older friends oppa or unnie it doesn't mean I'm calling them brother or sister, it's just a term/title that doesn't really have an accurate translation in English or most western languages and cultures.

I'm just using my example, Korean, but yes, they have (O)nii/nee-san, Anaki, etc. It's a common thing in a lot of eastern languages and countries, was my main point.
