i think the nukes replenished their life force instead of killing them since the red snow at the end went down and not up, which happens when they die (see: Rai's Adventure)
I've seen people talk about how the nukes must've been filled with the blood stone and that was able to save them instead of kill them judging by how everyone looks by the end of the chapter
