An overall interesting idea. The MC (an author) is transported into her own work, where she eventually falls in love with her own main villain.
The story does have its engaging elements, and the characters are generally very likeable.
However, it started to feel as though there absolutely needed to be a happy ending that tied everything together with a cute bow.
The tragic end is not necessarily a bad ending for any story. :x
NGL, the art caught my eye -- it is gorgeous.
What disappointed me the most is the fact that the FL ends up with the Crown Prince.
Second Lead Syndrome was also heavy with this one.
A third chance at life, but a second chance with her first love, Elise is a skilled surgeon who wishes to change not only her previous tragic fate, but also those of her beloved family members.
Characters are likeable. Plot is... alright. Slight chance for Second Lead Syndrome.
It IS a romance story, and the MC and ML's relationship is different the second time around, but something about it just didn't quite make me feel satisfied.
Standard isekai, and that's alright.
But I did read the final 2 chapters to see how it ended and eh.
I was still left with questions about a lot of things.
I personally do not find Calliope to be endearing, cute, or a genius.
These seem to be the greatest draws for fans, though.
I think I would have liked this more had they not gone the whole "fated" lovers trope.
At least, not in the manner it was done.
My issue with this rested squarely on my inability to like Leylin, the MC.
Perhaps her redeeming quality is her loyal love for the ML, but she's otherwise severely lacking.
I think I should have flagged this the moment I read it was a high school romance that never bore fruit.
Something about adults still holding onto their high school years is cringe to me.
I think it boils down to how immature it seems.
Quite possible that it's the translation that doesn't do justice.
The concepts were interesting, and I did like them, but I could not figure out what direction this was supposed to go.
