Heart-wrenchingly soft. One of the most original takes on homosexuality I've come across. The author completely refuses to subscribe to clichés, creating multi-dimensional and complex characters that fuel and nurture a very emotion-driven plot. Homosexuality is treated seriously with the difficulties and trials of pursuing non-heterosexual relationships being heavily discussed. YuYang and LiHuan are two of the most endearing leads with palpable and relatable journeys of growth.
I am completely caught off guard by how much I like this. The artist has such a magical touch for humour (I can't count the number of times I've laughed out loud) but the humour does not at all remove from the serious themes of homophobia and LGBTQIA+ acceptance that the story addresses. Both couples are endearing, and each of the main characters has a unique struggle that feels very authentic and palpable. Read this!
