Ukes who come into a relationship with severe hang-ups, i.e. trauma, phobias, bad childhoods, abuse, etc. Could also be they were just born skittish and wary of people.
The semes will usually be gentle and patient lovers that accept them as they are, but some stories won't have anyone helping the uke at all and it'll just be a story of the uke suffering from emotional or mental problems. I dunno, I find those fascinating to read about.
