A Stepmother’s Marchen is literally the standard for OIs. Not only is the art GORGEOUS, but the characters are complex and the plot is genuinely interesting w/o being too convoluted. It’s definitely a slower read and requires your undivided attention or you’ll miss certain details, but that’s what I love about it. You can tell the author knows what they want to write and how much love they put into it. 100000 /10 genuinely
If you want a light hearted OI then Beware the Villainess is where it’s at. Not only is it hilarious with its many meme references and meta commentary, but it also pokes fun at romance tropes by point out how creepy said tropes can be when viewed through the lens of a non-consenting person. On top of not being cliche, ALL of the female characters are bad asses that don’t take shit from the MLs. I also really appreciated the friendship between the ogFL and FL, it was so wholesome.
10/10 female solidarity and I’m also a sucker for over protective fathers. Only complaint is that the story dragged out in certain parts, it definitely could’ve been a lot shorter.
10/10 I love this webtoon so much. I love how the step sisters aren’t portrayed as mean girls and I love how much the FL loves and cherishes her daughters. The sisterhood between all of the sisters is wonderful and much needed amongst all of the OIs that depend on pitting women against women. Every single female character in this story has their own strengths and it makes me so happy as a reader.
I loved this OI so much. I really loved how head strong the FL was and how much she tried to empathize with the ogFL. There was genuinely a strong sense of female solidarity in this story which is so uncommon in this genre. I also enjoyed the fact that the ML wasn’t some clueless asshole who refused to believe his wife. He actually had depth that made his character genuinely interesting and relatable.
