This is the story that introduced me to the genre; which is both a blessing a curse because it’s only now I’m realizing that there’s no other story quite like it. It is also quite underated. If you love mystery, intrigue, and inner palace politics this is for you. It has a very refreshing art style too.

You know in OIs when someone transmigrates it’s either they try to fight what happens in the original story so they can change their destiny or they just let the original events unfold. Kill the Villainess falls into the latter. I feel for the MC because she was so done with everyone’s BS, you’d think by letting the original storyline take place she’d have less work to do but it’s literally the opposite. It was fun seeing her try to navigate that.

Tried to be unbiased as much as possible while rating this because it’s one of my favorite pieces of media ever. You might have heard of the K-drama adaptation of this. The manhwa is much more closer to the novel (source material) though. Based on a true story, this tells the story of a court maid and her life in the palace. This might not be everyone’s cup of tea but it has pretty strong storytelling that really engages you.

A brilliant and fresh take on how a heroine/FL is written. I love that the FL is incredibly cunning and smart despite being illiterate. The story is war-focused and has some humorous undertone but don’t let it fool you because it gets REAL. Some chapters here were really hard to read because it was so realistic and heavy, in a way that you know that certain systems and situations really do exist in real life and not just in this fantasy story.

This is a story with a revenge plot done so perfectly and satisfyingly. I have read other manhwas where the revenge isn’t enough or it simply falls short for some reason, it's not the case with this story at all. Also, I love the FL, she’s an actual villainess who has no qualms being immoral, unjust, and unremorseful. I feel like other villainess I have encountered aren’t “villainy” enough as compared to the FL here.

I typically do not read stories like this one where I know it will raise my blood pressure levels because of annoyance and anger, but it’s honestly just so addicting. And it’s not like the writing is that bad, it has great art too. Warning: a lot of unlikeable characters really... But you can’t help but root for the FL. Moreover, I know the plot summary sounds like a typical trashy reverse harem plot, once you read it however, it is rather well-executed.

This story showed a realistic reaction of the main lead who happened to reincarnate, transmigrate, regress, etc., while dealing with a whole lot of other things in their life. That reaction in question is to be scared as shit. The FL, although vulnerable and scared as shit, did what has to be done for her to move forward, though not necessarily revenge. This story produces a quite wholesome but also dysfunctional found family.

This might be the most plot-heavy as well as lore-heavy manhwa I have ever read. Before reading this, I’ve read comments about it being confusing and I get why they think that because this really have intricate world-building. And I guess at times it does feel like the creators are info dumping heavily. It has very great art though. Overall, this is for those who especially love mystery and politics.
