This is such an amazing story. probably in my top five ever read. It brought me to tears of devastation twice & tears of joy all the same. it was beautifully nuanced and funny, but also absolutely morally grey in the beginning. I was so worried to start this because of the age gap, but it became something so near and dear to my heart. they all grew and matured so so well, and it was amazing to watch her grow as a person.. GOD this was good. Sobbed my eyes out.And the side couples? IMMACULATE
Firstly, this is soooo funny. FL is effortlessly hillarious and her dynamic with ML is very cute. Even though the plot is quite dark, FL's positive & quirky demeanor is able to cover it. The art is also top-notch and uses bright color pallete so it feels lighter. I love watching their everyday life and seeing a man, completely broken and crippled by the horrors of war to the point of believing he’s an animal, slowly discovering emotions and what it means to be human.
I love the slow burn, not just in the romance but in the gradual introduction of each character and the friendships that form. Watching Pereshati (accidentally) building a new family from the ashes of her old one is so moving. She has a deep well of hurt, and this new family slowly helps heal the distrust she developed to survive. The story has a dark aesthetic and quiet, mature art that perfectly complement its tone. I absolutely love it. it’s such a fantastic read.
ML and FL end up living together thanks to FL's petty(and pretty tbh) uncle who was part of a cult. it’s really interesting to see how their relationship evolves when they’re forced to live together, and their dynamics are really really enjoyable and fun to watch!!
