The duke of Aness has become a lout. He supported the wrong prince in a battle for the throne, and abandoned his territory when it got raided by the first prince's army. The rest of his life was lived as a poor wanderer, heavy with the guilt of letting down all those lives under the dukedom.

He meets a Saint, who gives him a second chance to fix what he did wrong. Now he is back in the past, where he will try to take more responsibility with the knowledge he learned from the future.
