i think in their quests to make "quirky and interesting" male leads a lot of authors just accidentally stumble across autism. they arent doing it on purpose. some of them probably dont have a comprehensive enough understanding of asd to recognize how deeply wildly obviously autistic their characters are. but i do. and that is incredibly funny to me
