I tried I really did it’s my 4th time re reading this and I can’t get past chapter 10, it’s just not a story for me somehow is weirdly detailed in politics stuff but the emotional beats fall flat so many times and for a story about the development of a family those emotional beats are important to keep me from quitting

Art is gorgeous tbf, HoWEveR the fact that everyone is immediately enamored with her is a bit boring imo like where’s the payoff of her carefully gaining people’s trust not only others realizing that hey maybe this lil girl is more sweet and kind than she lets on but also Aria realizing that not all people are abusive assholes + I understand being obsessed with ur savior that makes sense but she seems to confuse love with the sense of gratitude she feels idk maybe some emotional growth for girly

They sure do love to make a character have a 180 personality shift AUTHORS ATTENTION make ur characters flawed they are interesting that way there’s literally no reason for this girl to be immediately confident from the get go and you sometimes understand that like I thought it was a nice touch for her to tremble when meeting max but make her stutter make her naive who slowly learns how the world works and makes her victories much more impactful
