Sweet, slow burn, happy ending, surprisingly long, fantasy, shape shifting, modern fantasy, no sex scenes.
Has a lot of political intrigue, but the main couple is very sweet. The main couple met and grew close when one of them was a child however their relationship stays strictly child/guardian. There is a long time skip, and once the two are shown again both as adults their dynamic changes.
Trigger warnings : violence, nonconsensual drugging for assassination, dubious morality.
This is certainly for a more mature audience. You can read this on a surface level without good reading comprehension and enjoy it, but I feel that you’ll get much more out of this wonderful story if you take the time to digest and deconstruct the main characters and understand why and how they’re growing with each encounter.
Trigger warnings : mentions of rape, prostitution, self mutilation, eating humans, alcohol and drugs, as well as the characters having grey morality.
