While it’s another « tower » climbing, with the same old pantheon , powers, etc - this focus on values does change the reading experience : for a starter, there’s never any cynical rules : killing other humans doesn’t give an edge, pay or give bonuses,. There’ are even gardians managing unfairness and treachery ! How brilliant ! It’s less violent & gruesome, so far never gratuitous, it’s just fully entertaining
The first arc is highly political, it’s a very strong portrayal of corruption of an entire system - hierarchy is not based on any natural order, cooperation is relegated to a myth or a bottom ladder precarious thing, selfish individuals with only their own benefit or survival in mind struggle,in a perpetual fight were everyone needs to watch his back
It’s very well written, the quadi evil MC and his unwanted good deeds brings a lot of comic relief and strangely profess other way to greater good
The super self serving jaded CEO of a society faces his promotion with great bitterness, he has many regrets when he faces his own death : could he have done differently ? That’s what we want to know too ! As he regresses at the very start of his carrier, he decides he will use his talents to undo the wrong he left unattended or that he did himself, and jump the wagon to his second chance
There’s better in my book, but it’s plenty good. Contrary to what the inteo suggested there’s no extreme hierarchy between the MC team, genders are mostly on par, female are strong, not winy
It’s a pleasant read, with a good pace and plenty plot to entertain
It still linear and predictable but it’s well done
fun, exhilarating, moving in places and mysterious in others
Very very OP MC, the bad thing is that he calls his one and only friend a « slave » and seems to mean it ? But, still, as the story moves on, you realize, there’s true friendship, and you can’t help but to love that snarky yet mostly good hearted MC
All thing is hysterical, and fun, most baddies are not that bad, and punishment (well deserved) are rather cute so far.
I’s packed with action, there’s quite a bit of plot going on too
