Don't take the beginning as the means all to end all. Yes, the lead char is a bit of a narc who thinks he's beautiful but by no means 'better' then anyone else. His popularity (And ego) are threatened when he meets another guy who's even more stunning, and well, lots of misunderstandings, funny moments and growth happen and we end up learning a bit.

This is art. The story is so real and thought provoking. Our main character has an abusive father and the story follows how he handles the situation emotionally and psychologically, it also shows how the system can fail such children in these situations. How inspiring it is to see him find people outside of his home who genuinely care for him, are there for him the best they can be, reassuring him he’s not alone and there is hope.
