recommendations for anyone starting out

god this one is so good. just amazing. immaculate art, great storyline, awesome fight scenes, etc. just the best. detailed, well written, etc. this one is so overlooked. another climbing the tower storyline, but it’s incredibly detailed and brings folklore and legends from every culture into one story. genuinely one of my most favorite reads out there.

definitely good, but it’s been awhile since i’ve read it, so i’m not 100% up-to-date on it. mc lives in a world where the tower dominates everything, and your worth is determined by the skills you have. he manages to get a ‘golden’ or S rank skill where he can copy the skill of someone after dying to them, and he manages to get the skill of resurrecting the day before he dies when a famous person kills him. cue his revenge story on society, becoming incredibly power

HOLY SHIT. THIS ONE IS AMAZING.
girl dies and reincarnates as the psychopathic villainess of a R18 fantasy novel. her new family is evil, raising children to become killers and psychopaths through trials and torture. she saves the heroine’s brother before her family can kill him, and dominates the family household. not much more has come out since there was a long hiatus after the first season, but i’m drooling waiting for more.

classic reincarnated into an otome game as the villainess, has to avoid death flags. but this one is amazing. art is great, storyline flows well and the main character is awesome. not annoying as you typically find within these types of manhwas, but smart and cunning. it’s super good so far; just wish we had better translations.

teenager who survived a plane crash in the middle of no where was trained by a ruthless mercenary group until he escapes and is taken in by the military while they search for his family. story follows him assimilating to normal life, but he still ends up in tight situations. art is stylized, storyline is amazing. LOVE this one. will forever be one of my favorites.

what are you doing if you don’t know this one? has it’s own animation adaptation on netflix (only 1 season out as of 4/12/23). Bullied and overweight, the mc moves to a different school and wakes up in the perfect body. Has 2 bodies, one overweight and one perfect. He switches between the two as he navigates high school and daily life. Touches on discrimination from society because of someone’s appearance, but there’s a lot of gang/underworld arcs within it. this one is super interesting. basically biker gangs but bicycles and high school kids. mc is a loner on an old, kinda crappy bike that a family member gave him, but it means everything and he’s an incredibly skilled rider. eventually makes friends who are into the biking scene. similar to a drama, there’s ups and downs, friendships and enemies. super super fun read.

same author as Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, it has a tower aspect and the mc decides to say fuck it and not follow the tower’s rules. he kills the administrator, breaks through the roof of the tower, and causes chaos in the universe. so much fun. the artist adapts really well to the art style after the first 10-15 chapters, so don’t get put off right away!
