8/10 — finally got around to rereading after many years, and it didn’t disappoint! the main two are so charming, especially the ML, which i didn’t expect to end up liking so much. the two “third wheels” are also very compelling characters, one for likable reasons and the other for hatable reasons. this isn’t a story about character redemption, but the love that comes from knowing a person, flaws and trauma and all. lots of drama, surprisingly wholesome.
10/10 — would you still love someone, knowing they’re soon to depart? will you still read this, knowing it ends in tragedy?
this manhua has fantastic representations of different types of fear; of change, of unlived potential, of the temporary nature of happiness. i think it’s quite meta how readers pick this up knowing it’s a tragedy, but choose to read it anyway. good things are temporary, but they’re still worth experiencing.
