tbh i kinda hate this manhwa adaptation lol. i LOVE how the novel writes the MC and his motivations, as a person who knows the world isn't worth saving but still does it. internal thoughts are easier to develop through story than illustrations at times, and the novel is like, so much action that i obsessively reread it to pass time LMAO. ig a big part of the novel is MC's struggle with the past+future, and just a consistent identity crisis that the manhwa doesnt have time to develop.
IF THERE IS EVER A LN I SUGGEST PPL TO READ IT IS QZGS. like i cannot explain to you how EXCITING it is to read the matches, esp as BB develops your understanding of how glory works on a technical level, which makes all the matches (that aren't included in these adaptations) way more intense and just really funny. also i LOVE how the author writes the feelings/thoughts/motivations of the cast. they feel like normal people esp as it's not a fantasy plotline.
READ IT. https://skydemonorder.com/projects/return-of-the-mount-hua-sect I'M BEING SRS. i LOVE the manhwa, but the LN is hilarious. it's quick action that's cushioned with good progression, and the characters' insights are hilarious. for a LN, i actually quite like MC's morals as there's a lack of self-righteousness that authors try to inject with their shameless characters or their attitudes. like it's a very self-aware novel but on an easily digestible scale
this novel is like a 2 outta 5 stars or something on certain sites and i fully understand why. still read like over 300 chapters of it tho. it's just mindless power fantasy like idk man like i get lost in the sauce reading this bullshit.
yeah i like it, but tbh. this light novel is one of those ones where i genuinely read it for the sake of seeing MC succeed; idrc what goes in the story you know. like i like the plot + action well enough, but it's also just. it's fine.
honestly. idk if it's because of kim rook soo's initial lack of emotional attachment to those around him, but the mc just feels weirdly disconnected. i just. don't really like him, and i read up to when he like solves the wildfire and etc. but i realized i like the novel exponentially more than the manhwa because of the way they explained more about choi han's character at the beginning
tbh. i never finished the novel. i was reading it like years ago and i got bored (LMAO) but i DO remember falling in absolute love with the exposition about artifacts, the general history recall we get, as well as the action of it all. ORV's platonic harem kinda makes me cringe but the novel itself was one of my favorites for the longest time. also idk i think i imagined KDJ differently in my head while reading the novel, so that's why the manhwa didn't appeal to me as much
OKAY i actually LOVE the manhwa. its art is MAD pretty, i LOVE the artstyle, and it paces the novel pretty well, and gives a lot of exposition without rambling. i think i just have an attachment to the LN because i read so much mtl of it that i have to like it, u know. but i will say this is actually one of the ones where the manhwa is just so well executed that i cant really say i dislike it more than the novel, THO i do love the novel more
im sorry but like. seeing it drawn out makes it feel vaguely cringe like tbh what can u do about it, but like. reading it just feels so much more acceptable than actually seeing the dude drawn out carrying a chair like it gives me so much secondhand embarrassment LMAO
