This list is full, continued in PART 2:
http://www.mangago.me/home/mangalist/592790/I've seen a lot of hate directed towards effiminate characters especially uke in BL stories. Often mocked as annoying/crybaby/weak.
I believe that being a strong character is not about muscles and/or masculinity. It's about pushing trough shits in life and getting back up on those heels no matter if you are a scaredy cat, wimpy, crybaby, annoying uke.

Hiya all readers, fujoshi and fundanshi.. this list is full now. If you want to read newer bl mangas with feminine uke check out the 2nd list/the continuation of this list.
Ah.. since the description's space is limited.. I'll add some explanation here.
The manga that I put in this list are have one of these criterias:
1. The physical/biological aspect.
When I consider this aspect I always try to remember that most of these characters are Asians. Also I consider the mangaka's overall drawing style. Some mangaka can distinctively draw feminine and masculine features. Some mangaka have feminine art style where all characters looks pretty, or masculine art style where all characters looks hunky. In that case I will leaned heavily on the manga script. How the narators described the physical features of the uke, also what the other characters impression about the uke. For example some uke are described as looking like a girl/woman, having face as beautiful as a woman, etc. The other characters might often compares the uke's face and/or body parts with a woman's face/body. In some fantasy BL some uke even able to be pregnant (mpreg).
2. The mannerism aspect.
The facial expressions, how he dress/style himself. Do he have a distinctively feminine interest. For example some ukes are depicted to occassionally like to wear dress, women yukata/kimono, high heels, etc. Some uke like to wear lipstick or other make up. The other characters in the manga might often said that the uke act like a wife, like a princess, etc.
3. The psychological aspect.
The inner thoughts of the uke. Some uke express their struggle with the social construct of masculinity. Finding himself inferior, not manly enough, not meeting the expectation as a man, etc. Some uke have thoughts about gender fluidity and/or trans*.
If you think that some manga doesn't belong in this list feel free to comment here. It might be slow response but I will check it out. Sometimes I do misplace some mangas because I have several lists and big thumbs.
This list is amazing!!! I think there's a lot of hate directed towards feminine ukes because the reason fujoshis read yaoi in the first place is they want two masculine men and no presence of 'feminine' characteristics whatsoever. I personally am very fond of feminine people and it bugs me that fujoshis think that actual gay men are masculine, when in truth most gay men are feminine! I'm a gay person myself so I can confirm this. So what if we're feminine? I think being feminine is beautiful in its own way.
Thank you! It is disheartening that a lot of fujoshi look down on femininity and glorifies masculinity.
I just appreciate femininity as well as masculinity.. it should not be mutually exclusive. I enjoy reading bl manga that have hunky uke with six pack abs as much as I enjoy reading bl manga with beautiful androgynous uke.
Exactly! And being feminine doesn't make a man any less of a man. Feminine, masculine, whatever, we can like what we like, both are equally beautiful!
Agree
Great list!
Thank you
Thanks for the list, and I also wanted to defend for flamboyant or androgynous uke anf sometimes seme too,
Yes I agree. I notice that people heaps a lot of praise towards a manga with manly uke. Tagging it with positive, encouraging words more often than not. Even tagging it with words like yaoi as it should be, real gay man (what, effeminate gay men are not real gays?)
Meanwhile, a manga with effiminate uke usually have negative stigma even when the uke able to overcome a lot in the story.
Sad that femininity is associated with words like weak, lame.
Some people climb their way up from a bad place with muscle, hammer, and work boots. Some people claw their way up from a bad place with long nails, high heels and tears in their eyes. The fact that both could overcome the hardships in life and stand back up should be appreciated and celebrated.
yasssss this is what i want!!!ty
Have fun reading through the listヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
