Alot of people dont like the ml but i beg to differ. He was labelled as an indifferent, cold jerk but he wasnt always this case. He had suffered so much trauma that he repressed his feelings. The fl saw all of this and became his companion althroughout. Yes he said to ml that he doesnt have any feelngs at her but he had always respected her and kept his promise of not marrying other people because of his backstory with the emperor. However, soon he will realize that he fell in love with the fl.
Again people put a low rating because of grooming. But i really feel like people should read this because of how realistic the plot is. The girl at first love the duke because he groomed her, she knows that the duke was only using her for the emperor (duke's brother) to get the throne. Eventually the duke's plan became true and the emperor died but the fl grieved his death. The fl died by suicide (poison) as well after the duke took away her daughter (emp's child).
