Sadly in the past life, both of them were stuck with the concept of having/being a substitution that they never realized til the end of what was right in front of them the whole time, and in the new life although fate still bring the same people together, the journey will be different and it will have a different ending. All i can say is that there were mistakes which led them to their ending in the past and now they can make better choices to be the better person for each other.
Pretty sweet and bittersweet but kinda nice ending
