While not flawless in some plotpoints, the portrayal of its main characters seems grounded. At least if you're the gay picket fence type, if the kid doesn't make that obvious.
It doesn't go very indepth, but it touches on more than just the happy moments a path like that passes by.
Bonus points for the kid not just being pure window dressing and actually throwing tantrums, etc.
