If you like Doulou Dalu then you will like the novel version more cause there is more in the novel than the manga does. I have been reading a little ahead without going through it therefore I can't give an accurate opinion. Without a doubt you will enjoy reading the novel version and yes it is ahead than the manga is currently at. One of wuxia's list, and those who been at the website knows what to expect from this. If you are not familiar with wuxia then you'll find many interesting novel translated by them. Some may not to your taste but for this manga I think you'll enjoy it. Haven't read through the novel but theres more content than the manga does.
