the vibe is rather casual; there is no imminent danger or a major antagonist as of now. it's mostly about the mc's slice-of-life adventures as he encounters more charas and deals with problems that come up (rather easily too). his journey of raising his powers and becoming famous is secondary. the pacing is pretty fast, and it's overall pretty funny and it doesn't seem forced either. it's different from other murim manhwas, probably cuz it's not very serious.
mc is a mature guy with a soothing and easygoing disposition. not like those brooding and cold protagonists. its a pretty casual plot, like mc is just doing business as a restaurant owner and trying to bring in customers. ofc, mc is op, but fighting and whatnot is barely touched upon bc he already gone thru the hurdles.
its very well-written with a talentless yet very intelligent mc set on revenge, so he pretends to be his brother and become a knight apprentice; he gets involved in conflicts with two major forces- the eastern continent and 'descendents of the dragons' aka masked bandits. side characters are smart as well, and not just foils, but most don't know mc is actually hella weak, but he does make it up with his strategies and psychologically manipulates opponents.
not bl, just friendship
by no means is this truly a 'romance' story. the storytelling is pretty unique, the main story is about sana and the red fox. the side story encompasses the stories of many individuals that had met the red fox, and how their lives turned out, which most of them were tragic. it's not super relevant to the main story, but gives more depth to the red fox. he is the ml and the villain, perse. he's the one messing up the lives of others. the mc, sana, despises him so much but she cant escape him.
it definitely subverted some of the cliches of this genre, because of how well this was written. the untalented mc was granted (or maybe, stole) the legacy of the first hero due to sheer will. it's not a self-fulfillment fantasy. mc continuously grows as the 'hero' and is fighting against the root of evil, to prevent the tragedy of the common people. he's pretty strong, but not the strongest, and he does have plot armor aka the hero's sword. love interest: I'm rooting for Karen. shes cute fr.
