He's not upset about it. Him and the Ex didn't have any romantic feelings and marrying MC would boost his support for becoming duke. Since before he wasn't first in line for the position, that's one of the reason he accepts the marriage. Also he has some childhood trauma do he doesn't feel much of anything anyways. But yeah he wasn't upset at all about the engagement being broken
Idk about the second timeline because I haven't gotten there yet but in the first he lives and keeps control of both MC and the duke lives and at the funeral he's even happy that MC is dead. Celebrating that now the cursed one is gone and he's sad she didn't suffer more
From what I've read so far he doesn't. In the first timeline He see what happened to MC while he was away and how she was mistreated through magic. He also finds out how traumatised his son grows up to be and goes mad and eventually turns back time wishing things would go differently.
GUYS PLEASE!!!! THIS IS NOT ANOTHER REMMARRIED EMPRESS!!! I think you guys have been traumatised by bad male leads and are now jumping to conclusions. I can promise you that Edgar isn't a bad guy yeah he has some issues with being cold but everything is a misunderstanding. Also I'll add spoilers below but I think it's important to remember that our MC was suffering from some serious mental issues so you might wanna take her perspective with a grain of salt not to mention they crammed a good chunk of novel content into a few chapters so please please don't jump to conclusion

He took away the baby because MC was seriously mentally ill she could barely take care of herself or the baby and he was planning to give him back after the MC got better but was called to war for 6 years
Okay the Ml does not have a mistress and did not bring the mistress in the mistress was brought in behind his back while he was at war by Mc's father
The father also deliberately made him stay out at war so he couldn't go back o see her and the baby. Even though he wanted to the emperor was also involved
He did his best to keep the Ex away from MC but he couldn't do much from so far away.
By the time he got back MC was seriously sick and the baby was already attached to the mistress so even though he didn't want her their he couldn't just kick out the women his son loved like a mother. (The son also barely knew him so if he got rid of her who would the son even rely on)
He genuinely loves MC and the reason he was cold was because the father was threatening him, he assassinated his vassals and supporters and threatened his right to be duke and said if he wanted to keep his position he had to keep his distance from MC.
This is essentially q summary of the key points he never actually does anything to harm her everything he does is the best he can and he's cold because of the way he was raised he struggles to even express his emotions. He's also the one who turns back time because he regrets being foolish and failing to protect his wife and son
So as you can see all of these things plus Mc's already fragile mild led to this huge huge misunderstanding.
