Cool in chapter 8 it’s the first time they have sex irl, at the time jace believed he was in a dream, the exact words the duke said were “hey...no...don’t...” seems like he wasn’t giving consent huh, the only reason he decided to go along with it was because jace provoked him with the “the duke isn’t a man of his word”. I’m not on either of their sides one because they’re both rapists two because either way they’re shitty people in general. Just because you favor jace don’t brush over the fact that he did in fact rape the duke even if it seemed like the duke “gave consent”. Alright then, let’s use your example, the person provoked the other and the other persons beats the shit out of them, who’s the one that provoked them? Who’s the one that beat them? They’re both in the wrong for different reasons. Neither of them are innocent. Just like this story my point still stands that they’re both horrible shitty people and no matter what character development either of them get it will not excuse what they both have already done

and provoking someone does not make you a bad person. different things provoke different people and nobody is a mind reader. doesn't excuse getting physical just because someone says something. provoking someone is not consenting to someone putting their hands on that person- which is MY point with your comment. it wasn't forced. and "provoking" does not make this rape.
